New York: The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar has reaffirmed Pakistan's support for the United Nations' central role in addressing global challenges. During a meeting with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in New York, Dar emphasized the importance of resolving the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in line with Security Council resolutions.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Deputy Prime Minister condemned Israel's actions against the Palestinian people and reiterated Pakistan's commitment to a two-state solution. He also addressed issues of cross-border terrorism originating from Afghanistan, urging the United Nations to assist in combating terrorism both within and from Afghanistan.
Secretary-General Guterres expressed gratitude for Pakistan's active participation at the United Nations. The Deputy Prime Minister's visit to New York is part of his participation in the high-level meeting of the United Nations Security Council on 'Practicing Multilateralism: Reforming and Improving Global Governance,' convened by China.
