76th anniversary of Radio Pakistan’s establishment observed

The 76th anniversary of establishment of Radio Pakistan was observed today [Monday].

Radio Pakistan and Pakistan came into being at the same time as the first announcement about the creation of Pakistan was made by Mustafa Ali Hamdani from Lahore radio station at mid night between 13th and 14th August, 1947.

At the time of creation of Pakistan, Radio Pakistan was named as Pakistan Broadcasting Service. Later it was designated as Radio Pakistan.

At the time of creation of Pakistan there were three Radio Stations in Pakistan including Peshawar, Lahore and Dhaka.

Radio Pakistan was converted into Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation on December 20‚ 1972 as a statutory body governed by the Board of Directors.

Now Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation commonly known as Radio Pakistan has its stations in all provinces and Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Besides Medium Wave channels, Radio Pakistan has networks of different channels including FM-101, FM-93, FM-94, FM-98 and Saut-ul-Quran channel all over the country.

Radio Pakistan has also started a number of online channels to meet the demand of the audience on variety of subjects.

Radio Pakistan has a bilingual website in Urdu and English language besides having significant presence on social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Podcast and Tik-Tok.

Besides traditional radio sets, Radio Pakistan channels can be accessed online on Radio Pakistan’s website and Mobile Phone Apps while different news bulletins and programs are also broadcast live on official Facebook page of Radio Pakistan. Radio Pakistan’s archives are also available on Awaz Khazana App.

The ground breaking of Radio Pakistan’s flagship project Digital Radio Mondiale has recently been performed and it will be completed at a cost of four billion rupees. With DRM technology, the broadcast of Radio Pakistan will reach 52 countries of the world.
