Karachi: The agriculture sector is progressing towards growth due to government initiatives and support by the Special Investment Facilitation Council. In a significant move to enhance agricultural productivity, a Bio-saline Center has been established at Sindh Agricultural University with the aim of converting thirty-five percent of barren land into cultivable land.

According to Radio Pakistan, efforts are underway at the Bio-saline Center to develop modern strategies for land affected by salinity. The recent completion of a project on the effects of salinity, funded by an Australian research center, marks a positive development in addressing agricultural challenges. This project has enabled the successful cultivation of trees and plants on salinity-affected land, paving the way for further advancements.

Additionally, a new water management project is under consideration. This initiative includes monitoring the drainage of water from fourteen canals and analyzing it for agricultural use. These efforts are expected to contribute significantly to the sustainable development of the agriculture sector in the region.
