Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal has expressed Pakistan's strong interest in enhancing its railway capacity through modern technology, in line with the National Agenda for Reforms. He made these remarks during his meeting with a delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), led by Mr. Chen Chen, Director of the Transport Sector Group, in Islamabad. The discussion focused on ADB's ongoing support for Pakistan's transport sector, future development plans, and the challenges it faces. The Minister urged the revival and review of several key projects related to railway, transport, and maritime infrastructure projects that had been approved in 2018, but stalled under the previous government. Additionally, Ahsan Iqbal recommended that the ADB establish a knowledge-sharing system to enable countries worldwide to access and learn from its models and experiences. Both the sides engaged in detailed discussions about the Multi-Tranche Financing Facility for road projects and expressed their commitment to collabora te on future initiatives in this sector.
