Islamabad: All sugar mills will begin their crushing season on November 21 as decided in a recent meeting of the Sugar Advisory Board chaired by Federal Minister for Industries and Production, Rana Tanveer Hussain. According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting highlighted the importance of adherence to the announced date, with the Minister affirming that action will be taken against any mills failing to start crushing on time. Additionally, it was confirmed that all payments to farmers are to be completed before the commencement of the crushing season. Failure to pay dues to farmers will result in the revocation of mills' export licenses. The Pakistan Sugar Mills Association's request for permission to export additional sugar was addressed, with the Minister stating that further export permissions will not be granted until the completion of the first export quota. The Sugar Advisory Board also reviewed sugarcane crop estimates and the overall sugar stock position for the upcoming crushing season, expressing sati sfaction with current sugar prices in the local market.
