Islamabad: Pakistan has taken a just stance on snapback sanctions on Iran, emphasizing the importance of diplomacy over coercion in addressing the Iranian nuclear issue. The country has urged the international community to prioritize diplomatic engagement, highlighting Iran's significant role in the region and its unified societal structure.
According to Radio Pakistan, Amb. Wahed Ahmad, a former diplomat, noted that despite numerous attempts by the United States to create divisions within Iran, the Iranian society remains strong and cohesive. Ahmad pointed out that Iran is pursuing its national interests by exploring nuclear options, a move that is monitored by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). He argued that accusations against Iran for not adhering to IAEA guidelines are unfair, as the country seeks nuclear technology for peaceful purposes within the framework of international regulations.
Ahmad stressed the importance of continued global engagement with Iran on its nuclear development program. He expressed optimism that Iran might resume negotiations with the international community to reach a nuclear agreement, similar to past accords. However, he emphasized that any meaningful deal would require the involvement of the United States, as unilateral agreements without U.S. participation could result in continued sanctions on Iran. Ahmad concluded by asserting that Iran is unlikely to succumb to U.S. pressure, especially if it is influenced by Israel's stance on the nuclear issue.
