Analysts Hail Pakistan-Saudi Arabia Defence Deal as Road to Regional Prosperity

Islamabad: Analysts have praised the recent defence agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, highlighting its potential to foster regional prosperity. The deal is viewed as a strategic move that could bring peace to both South Asia and the Middle East, while simultaneously addressing shared security concerns.

According to Radio Pakistan, Lt. Gen. (R) Raza Muhammad Khan, a defence analyst, emphasized that the agreement between Riyadh and Islamabad has unsettled their common adversaries, who might now find it challenging to pursue aggressive agendas. The pact is expected to lead to enhanced cooperation between the two nations, including plans for Saudi Arabia to establish two oil refineries in Gwadar and potential joint defence production initiatives. Khan also suggested that this agreement could serve as a catalyst for unity within the Muslim world and has already influenced several European countries to recognize the State of Palestine.

Ambassador Sardar Masood Khan, a former diplomat, described the defence deal as a significant milestone for both the region and the world at large. He anticipates that other Gulf countries, influenced by Saudi Arabia, may soon join the agreement. The Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan has already engaged in discussions with the Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to further this initiative. Furthermore, Muslim leaders are planning to meet with US President Donald Trump to discuss maintaining peace in the Middle East. Ambassador Khan speculated that if these leaders can persuade Trump, he may choose to abstain from future United Nations resolutions concerning ceasefire in Gaza, despite the strong influence of the Jewish lobby in the US. Nonetheless, there is growing domestic scrutiny over the substantial financial support provided to Israel at the expense of American taxpayers.
