Anti-polio vaccination campaign of varied duration is underway across the country. During the campaign, children upto five years age are being administered anti-Polio vaccine drops to protect them from crippling disease. Special teams of health department are going door to door to ensure that every child receives vaccine drops. Anti-Polio drive began in Punjab today. The drive will continue for seven days in major districts like Lahore, Rawalpindi and Faisalabad, while for five days in the rest of province. More than two hundred thousand workers are participating in the drive to vaccinate over 20 million children. A total of 4,888 permanent and 2,654 transit vaccination teams are taking part in the drive. In Lahore, a total of 2.2 million children will be administered polio drops by fourteen thousand polio workers. In Sindh, 16 million children up to the age of five years will be administered Polio vaccine drops in all the thirty districts of the province. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah appe aled to parents to get their children administered with polio drops. He urged the media, civil society and Ulema to create awareness about polio among people. The first phase of seven day anti polio campaign began in thirty-three districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa today. According to Emergency Operation Center Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, more 6.6 million children upto five years of age will be administered anti polio vaccine and Vitamin-A dose. The provincial health department has constituted more than forty thousand teams for the purpose. Around 50,000 security personnel have been deployed in the target areas for protection of polio teams. A week-long anti-polio drive also began in Balochistan today. According to Emergency Operation Center Balochistan more than 2.6 million children up to five years of age would be administered anti-polio drops.
