Expert on Lawfare and Human Rights in IIOJK, Barrister Sundas Malik has emphasized that Jammu and Kashmir remains a disputed territory as per United Nations Security Council resolutions, which call for a free and fair plebiscite to determine the territory's future. In an exclusive interview with Radio Pakistan in connection with Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir, she condemned India's unilateral actions, particularly the revocation of Article 370 of its Constitution, which she said was unjustified and illegitimate. She said that the people of IIOJK want a free and fair plebiscite to decide their future, highlighting that the abrogation of Article 35-A was a deliberate move to alter the region's demographic composition. Barrister Sundas Malik expressed regret for the silence of the international community over human rights violations in IIOJK. She suggested that global powers could impose sanctions on the Indian government or it's military to pressure India into reversing its August 5, 2019, actions. Barrister Su ndas Malik said that the international community's inaction regarding IIOJK is driven by economic interests, asserting that humanitarian concerns should take precedence. She said Indian authorities are enacting laws and policies that systematically discriminate against minorities. She said there has been no progress for the people in IIOJK, where businessmen, farmers, and individuals face ongoing suppression and intimidation. Source: Radio Pakistan
