Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Shazia Marri says Benazir Bhutto Shaheed played a remarkable role in nurturing the democratic process in the country.
She was addressing a press conference in connection with the 70th birth anniversary of Pakistan People's Party leader Benazir Bhutto Shaheed in Islamabad today.
Highlighting the services rendered by the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed for restoration of democracy in the country, she said that Benazir Bhutto came in the country despite knowing the fact that she is under the threat and embraced martyrdom.
She said that Benazir Bhutto was the ardent supporter of the fundamental rights of marginalized section of society.
Alluding to the steps taken by her for the empowerment of the women in country, she said that establishment of ladies Police stations and First women Bank and appointment of women judges are the hallmark of Benazir Bhutto.
The Minister said that Benazir termed Thar coal as a black gold of country and started work on it. Ghazi Brotha energy related project is also included in her achievement.
Shazia Marri said that Benazir Bhutto established better relationships with International community especially with neighbors to gain the dividends of shared economic growth.
On his part, Minister of State Faisal Karim Kundi termed holding of transparent and free elections as the viable solution of problems being faced by country.
