Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid has directed the Provincial Secretary Food to finalize the paperwork on priority basis for setting up of Food Authority and preparation of Food Act.
While addressing a high-level meeting on price control, the chief minister said that controlling the prices of everyday food items was part of governance, adding that providing relief to the poor and ensuring the availability of food items at government-fixed prices were among the government's top priorities.
He directed the Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners to ensure the availability of food items at the prices fixed by the government.
He directed that markets should be set up at the divisional level and strategies should be formulated at the government level to ensure availability of food items to the people at reasonable prices.
