COMSTECH scholarships and fellowships programme for Palestinians was launched in Islamabad today. Minister for Science and Technology Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui was the chief guest on the occasion. Giving detail of the programme, Coordinator General COMSTECH Dr Iqbal Chaudhry said hundreds of scholarships will be offered to Palestinian students in the first phase. However, around five thousand additional opportunities will be provided to the citizens of Palestine in technical education and other fields. Addressing the launching ceremony, the Minister said it is incumbent upon us to help the oppressed people of Palestine. He expressed solidarity with the people of Palestine and said Pakistan is standing on the right side of the history. Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddique also expressed satisfaction over the potential and capacity of the Pakistani educational institution in imparting quality education to students. The Minister also presented shields of recognition to the heads and representatives of various publi c and private universities for offering generous scholarships to the Palestinian youth. Besides Palestinian Ambassador Ahmad Rabaie, vice chancellors and representatives of private and public educational institutions of Pakistan, diplomats, Palestinian students and media persons attended the ceremony.
