Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has said a broad-based consultation process on the proposed constitutional amendments is continuing with all the political parties. Talking to the media in Islamabad this evening, he said the government is consulting with the coalition parties, while JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman is taking the opposition parties on board with regard to every clause of the proposed amendments. He said the PML-N and the PPP have held meetings with the JUI-F leadership over the matter. The Minister said undertaking a constitutional amendment is a very serious and important matter, often leading to delays due to the extended consultation process. He said legal experts of all the political parties are part of the consultative process to improve the draft amendments. Attaullah Tarar said the proposed amendments are aimed at improving the judicial system and life of every Pakistani. He said the Parliament has the right to amend the Constitution and the law. He added that it is responsibility of the lawmakers to go for legislation, beneficial to the general public. Source: Radio Pakistan
