Death Anniversary of Punjabi Folk Singer Tufail Niazi Observed

Islamabad: The thirty-fifth death anniversary of Punjabi folk singer Tufail Niazi was observed today.

According to Radio Pakistan, Tufail Niazi was born in 1926 in Madiraan village of Jalandhar district. Following the establishment of Pakistan, he settled initially in Multan before eventually moving to Lahore.

Niazi began his artistic career with Nautanki theater productions, starring in renowned classical plays such as Sassi Pannu, Heer Ranjha, and Sohni Mahiwal. His journey then transitioned into a singing career, where he performed with his own Sangeet Party.

Throughout his career, Niazi sang numerous memorable songs for Radio Pakistan and Pakistan Television. His contributions to the arts were recognized with the Presidential Pride of Performance Award.

Tufail Niazi passed away on this day in 1990 in Islamabad, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire many in the world of Punjabi folk music.
