Director General Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation Saeed Ahmed Shaikh says Radio Pakistan, being the oldest and biggest broadcasting institution of the country, is playing an important role for promotion of national unity and cohesion. In an exclusive interview with PTV News, he said Radio Pakistan's role for the promotion of country's culture and literature is unmatchable. He emphasized the institution's commitment to embracing and celebrating regional languages, noting the alignment of various programs to cater to diverse linguistic audiences. Highlighting Radio Pakistan's commitment to religious dissemination, the Director General revealed that the Saut-ul-Quran channel is now broadcasting the recitation of the Holy Quran with Urdu Translation in 18 cities across Pakistan, with plans to extend this service to an additional 18 cities. This initiative underscores Radio Pakistan's dedication to facilitating spiritual enrichment and religious harmony among the populace. In line with the evolving digital landscape, he highlighted significant strides in expanding Radio Pakistan's digital footprint. With 53 channels now accessible through the Radio App, Radio Pakistan is reaching audiences not only across Pakistan but also worldwide, wherever internet connectivity is available. This expansion reflects Radio Pakistan's adaptability to contemporary technological trends, ensuring broader access to its diverse range of programs and content. Saeed Ahmed Shaikh emphasized Radio Pakistan's unwavering commitment to serving communities in remote areas devoid of basic amenities like electricity and internet connectivity. The broadcasting network's extensive reach spans from the northern region of Gilgit to the southern port city of Gwadar, ensuring that Radio Pakistan's enriching content is accessible to listeners in every corner of the country. He said Radio Pakistan's vibrant social media platforms have huge following with over two point seven million followers on Facebook and about one million on Twitter. The Direc tor General emphasized the vital role of the network in serving Pakistan's diverse demographic landscape. Talking about the significance of radio as a primary source of information, particularly in remote regions where access to other media is limited, he highlighted Radio Pakistan's pivotal role in keeping communities informed, especially in rural Balochistan through its news bulletins. Saeed Ahmed Shaikh underscored the network's resilience in times of crises, citing its indispensable role during natural disasters such as floods and earthquakes. He noted that Radio Pakistan swiftly mobilized emergency services to provide crucial updates and support to affected populations. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Radio Pakistan emerged as a frontline disseminator of information, broadcasting awareness campaigns in various regional and local languages to educate and empower citizens across the country. Furthermore, Saeed Ahmed Shaikh outlined Radio Pakistan's commitment to supporting Pakistan's agricultural sector through specialized programming tailored for farmers, aiming to enhance productivity and contribute to the nation's agricultural growth. In line with modernization efforts, he elaborated Radio Pakistan's digital transformation initiatives, including the renovation of studios to enhance production quality and efficiency, ensuring that the network remains at the forefront of broadcasting technology.
