Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar engaged in a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to discuss matters of bilateral relations, regional security, and economic cooperation.
According to Radio Pakistan, the discussion emphasized Pakistan's commitment to strengthening its partnership with the United States, focusing on enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, and counter-terrorism efforts. The US Secretary of State expressed a reciprocal desire to collaborate with Pakistan in trade and investment, highlighting critical minerals as a key sector for partnership.
During the call, the US Secretary of State acknowledged and appreciated Pakistan's efforts in combating terrorism, expressing the United States' desire to further enhance counter-terrorism cooperation. Ishaq Dar highlighted Pakistan's significant efforts in fighting terrorism between 2013 and 2018, which resulted in substantial economic and human losses for the country.
The conversation also covered the situation in Afghanistan, with both parties agreeing on the importance of resolving the issue of US military equipment left behind in the region. Both sides committed to maintaining close contact and working together to advance the shared interests of Pakistan and the United States.
