Islamabad: Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has highlighted the importance of enhancing cooperation between Pakistan and Iraq across various sectors including agriculture, trade, water, energy, education, tourism, and defense.
According to Radio Pakistan, during a meeting with the Iraqi ambassador in Islamabad, Gilani emphasized that Pakistan and Iraq share deep historical, cultural, and religious ties. He suggested that establishing direct air connectivity between the two nations would further bolster people-to-people contacts.
Gilani noted that approximately two hundred and fifty thousand Pakistani Zaireen travel to Iraq annually to visit holy sites, underscoring the urgent need to streamline arrangements for these visitors. Additionally, both sides expressed a commitment to fostering parliamentary diplomacy and exchanging delegations to deepen bilateral relations.
