Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has stated that the government remains open to holding discussions with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in a sincere and serious manner to address ongoing issues.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister made these remarks while presiding over the Federal Cabinet meeting in Islamabad. He expressed that the government had created a conducive environment for negotiations with PTI, but accused PTI of avoiding the dialogue process. Highlighting the government's commitment, he mentioned the formation of a committee led by Speaker Ayaz Sadiq to facilitate talks. However, PTI did not attend the scheduled meeting on the 28th of this month, choosing instead to unilaterally terminate the discussions.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the nation cannot afford unrest and that dialogue is essential to guide the country towards development. Addressing the war on terrorism, he reiterated the government's dedication to honoring the sacrifices of martyrs and advancing Pakistan's prosperity and security.
The Prime Minister also praised the armed forces, police, and other law enforcement agencies for their dedication to national security. He stressed the collective responsibility of both the government and the public to uphold these sacrifices. He called for a united effort from all societal sectors to achieve Pakistan's developmental and security goals.
On economic matters, the Prime Minister noted the State Bank of Pakistan's decision to decrease the policy rate by one percent, which he believes will stimulate economic growth and trade activities.
Expressing concern over human trafficking incidents, the Prime Minister acknowledged the loss of lives and the damage to Pakistan's international reputation. He assured that a comprehensive investigation is underway and that the government is taking effective measures to combat human trafficking.
