Minister for Industries and Production Makhdoom Syed Murtaza Mahmud has said the government is reverting urea price at 1768 rupees per bag to provide relief to farmers.
Chairing a meeting in Islamabad today [Wednesday], he said that the government would not tolerate unjustified price increase of urea. Syed Murtaza Mahmud said the government will implement vehicle registration, tracking and verification system to smoothen adequate and timely supply of key soil nutrients to farmers during Kharif season.
The Minister for Industries said the government has restored gas supplies to fertiliser plants and would continue uninterrupted gas supplies for domestic production.
He said the government has decided to make subsidy payments directly to farmers immediately through Ministry of Food Security and Provincial Governments.
The meeting decided to set up a task force to thwart cross border trafficking of urea.
