Divisional Administration Bahawalpur has issued high flood alert in Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar due to possible high level of flood in Sutlej River.
According to the Spokesman of PDMA, Sulemanki Headworks will attain very high level of flood today which will cause severe damage to riverine areas of Sutlej River.
Vulnerable population and cattle are being shifted to safer places from riverine belts by Pakistan Army and district administration.
Nineteen flood relief camps have also been established in district Bahawalpur while thirty flood relief camps have been established in district Bahawalnagar to provide relief to the affected people due to possible flood situation.
A control room has also been established in Bahawalpur to monitor the flood situation.
Pakistan Army is carrying rescue and relief operation in the flood affected areas of Bahawalnagar, Pakpattan, Arif wala, Mailsi and Minchanabad.
Meanwhile, water level is consistently rising in Sutlej River in Vehari and Lodhraan districts and high flood is expected to pass through the riverine areas during the next two days.
According to district administration Vehari, water inflow at Headworks Islam has been recorded around 52 thousand cusecs and water is rising at the headwork.
The evacuation of people from the Sutlej riverine areas is going on rapidly in Vehari and Lodhraan.
80 percent of people from the low-lying areas have been shifted to safe places in Vehari while evacuation is in progress in Lodhran district.
Irrigation department is closely monitoring the spurs and safety studs in the area to avoid any incident of breach.
