At the United Nations, Pakistan says the pre-requisite for restoring trust in international political and economic system is to secure compliance by States violating the UN Charter’s and its Security Council's resolutions.
Speaking in the 15-member Council's debate on future-proofing trust to sustain peace, Pakistan's UN Ambassador Munir Akram said confidence in UN system has been eroded due to violation of Charter by powerful States, their allies and non-implementation of Security Council's resolutions.
He attributed the erosion of trust in international political and economic system to a toxic global security environment where States believe that equipping themselves for war is best guarantee of preserving national security, sovereignty, and independence.
