Finance Minister Miftah Ismail says the incumbent government has averted the default towards which Pakistan was pushed by the PTI government.
In a series of tweets, he said Pakistan will meet all international obligations and it will not default now.
The Finance Minister termed a record increase in debt by Imran Khan's government as the single biggest reason for pushing the country towards default.
He also criticized Imran Khan for ignoring power sector and not buying the LNG and oil when these were available at historic low prices in international market.
He said another reason Imran Khan’s incompetence forced Pakistan towards default was huge losses in the gas sector.
The Finance Minister said Pakistan needs to remain committed to reforms and austerity and to weather the challenging external environment with utmost fiscal discipline.
He said we need our rich people to pay their fair share of taxes.
He also stressed the need to grow more food and increase the exports in IT, textiles and other items.
