Islamabad: Iranian President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian will undertake a State Visit to Pakistan today. The visit comes at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Dr Pezeshkian will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including ministers and other high-ranking officials.
According to Radio Pakistan, during the visit, the Iranian President will meet with President Asif Ali Zardari and hold talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Key Pakistani leaders, including Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, will also call on the visiting President. This marks Dr Masoud Pezeshkian's second visit to Pakistan as Iran's President.
The discussions during the visit will focus on reviewing the full spectrum of bilateral relations and exploring new avenues to further cooperation across sectors such as trade, energy, border security, people-to-people exchanges, and regional connectivity. This visit also presents an opportunity to deliberate on ongoing diplomatic engagements following the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, as well as regional and international developments of mutual interest.
The visit underscores the shared commitment of Pakistan and Iran to deepen their historic and cultural ties, reflecting their common aspiration for peace, stability, and sustainable progress in the region.
