J&K dispute settlement vital for global peace: President, PM

President and Prime Minister have called for fair and just settlement of Jammu and Kashmir dispute for global peace and security. In their message on International Day of Peace, they said Pakistan is ready to work with the global community to promote a more peaceful and inclusive world for everyone President Asif Ali Zardari said the world cannot achieve progress and development in the absence of peace as wars and conflicts increase the problems and miseries of people. He said we affirm our commitment to principles of peace among nations worldwide. The President said regrettably Israel has unleashed a reign of terror in Palestine and is committing genocide by killing thousands of people in Gaza. The President said that the Hindutva-inspired Modi regime is committing grave human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and is persecuting Muslims and other minorities in India and depriving them of their fundamental rights. These blatant violations of international law and human r ights endanger global peace and security. In his message, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif says Pakistan strongly believes in fostering peace and stability in the region through dialogue and it is essential to resolve the longstanding disputes to effectively achieve this end. Shehbaz Sharif said that the foundation for any lasting resolution in the region hinges solely on achieving a fair and just settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute peacefully through an impartial plebiscite and relevant UN Security Council Resolutions. He said that we must also not overlook the plight of the innocent people of Palestine, who are courageously facing state of aggression. For lasting peace in the Middle East, the Prime Minister said, a peaceful resolution of the dispute according to the UN resolutions and aspirations of the Palestinians is need of the hour.
