Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and the world over observed Accession to Pakistan Day, today, (Friday) with a renewed pledge to continue struggle for right to self-determination. On this day in 1947, genuine representatives of Kashmiris unanimously passed resolution of Kashmir's Accession to Pakistan during a meeting of All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference. To commemorate day, rallies, seminars and other events were held across Azad Kashmir and Pakistan where speakers underscored significance of the day. In separate statements from New Delhi's Tihar Jail, incarcerated APHC leaders, including Masarat Aalam Butt, Shabbir Ahmed Shah and Nayeem Ahmed Khan reiterated their dedication to continue their peaceful struggle towards this goal. On the other hand, several people were injured when Indian police used brute force against protesters in the Mirgund area of Pattan in Baramulla. The police resorted to lathi charges and teargas, leading to clashes where protesters pelted stones and shouted pro-freedom and anti-BJP slogans. In Indian illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, over four hundred and fifty thousand Kashmiris have sacrificed their lives in the quest for freedom from Indian occupation and its accession to Pakistan over past 77 years. According to a report released by Research Section of Kashmir Media Service Indian troops have martyred more than 96,329 Kashmiris, including 7,344 in custody and fake encounters, since January 1989.
