NA passes today two bills

The National Assembly today passed 'The Deposit Protection Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2024' and 'The Establishment of Special Court (Overseas Pakistanis Property) Bill, 2024.' Besides, three bills were introduced, which include 'The National Commission on the Status of Women (Amendment) Bill, 2024' ,The Pakistan Infrastructure Development and Assets Management Authority Bill, 2024' and 'The Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention (Implementation) Bill, 2024.' The house resumed discussion on judicial reforms. Taking part in the discussion, PPP leader Raja Pervaiz Ashraf said judicial reforms are vital to make Pakistan's judicial system more effective to provide cheap and speedy justice to masses. He said the establishment of a constitutional court is not a new idea as this had been agreed between the PPP and the PML-N in the Charter of Democracy. Pervaiz Ashraf also felicitated all the political parties including PTI, JUI-F for being part of judicial reforms. Dr Ikhtiar Baig congratulated PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for his efforts in bringing political parties onboard regarding the constitutional package. Those, who also spoke on the occasion, include Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Ali Muhammad Khan, Amir Dogar, Sardar Yaqoob Khan Nasir, Khursheed Ahmed Junejo, and Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hassan.
