Islamabad: A high-level parliamentary delegation from Bahrain, led by Dr Ahmed bin Salman Al-Musallam, the Speaker of the Council of Representatives of the Kingdom of Bahrain, visited the Parliament House in Islamabad on Monday. The delegation was warmly received by Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.
According to Radio Pakistan, the discussions between the two sides focused on strengthening bilateral relations, exploring trade opportunities, and promoting parliamentary cooperation. Both leaders expressed a mutual desire to enhance the parliamentary ties between Pakistan and Bahrain.
Speaker Ayaz Sadiq emphasized the importance Pakistan places on its relationship with Bahrain, highlighting how increased parliamentary engagement could foster closer ties between the two nations. He noted that the relationship is deeply rooted in shared religious, cultural, and historical values. Sadiq also pointed out the potential for collaboration in various sectors, including economic and trade areas.
The discussions also revealed that both countries share similar positions on key regional and global issues and have consistently supported each other on international platforms.
Dr Ahmed bin Salman Al-Musallam expressed Bahrain's interest in boosting cooperation with Pakistan in fields such as parliamentary affairs, trade, and IT. He assured that the Bahraini Parliament is willing to offer all possible support to the Pakistani Parliament, especially in the IT sector. Dr Al-Musallam also highlighted the importance of further enhancing trade relations between the two countries and thanked Speaker Ayaz Sadiq and his team for their warm hospitality.
