Pakistan is committed to complete elimination of Polio virus from the country within timeline by 2026. Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York Munir Akram told UNICEF's Executive Board that Pakistan has made significant progress towards complete eradication of polio, despite challenges. He said due to the concerted efforts by the government and our global partners, only 6 cases of polio were detected last year. Munir Akram said the government has set a target to immunize 45 million children this year and dedicated efforts will be made to achieve that target. He urged all donors and partners to contribute generously to the polio eradication efforts and ensure that children are vaccinated.
