Pakistan Launches Its First National Carbon Market Policy.

Baku: Pakistan has launched its first national carbon market policy aimed at attracting green investment. The initiative marks a significant step towards sustainable development, as it introduces a framework for carbon markets in the country. According to Radio Pakistan, the launch event took place at the Pakistan Pavilion on the sidelines of the COP29 global climate conference in Baku. The event also featured the introduction of the Panel on Coordinated Access to Net Zero Development Financing Through Paris-Aligned Carbon Markets. This initiative reflects Pakistan's commitment to climate action and its readiness to collaborate with international partners in establishing effective carbon markets. Prime Minister's Coordinator on Climate Change, Romina Khurshid Alam, addressed the gathering, emphasizing Pakistan's dedication to developing this market as a means of promoting sustainability. She highlighted the country's willingness to work alongside partners and collaborators in setting up carbon markets that align with global climate goals. The ceremony was attended by a diverse group of stakeholders, including members of international civil society organizations, delegation members from various countries, academia, researchers, policymakers, and media representatives. Through this initiative, Pakistan aims to position itself as a proactive player in the global effort to address climate change.
