Lahore: Pakistan Railways is manufacturing new freight wagons with the assistance of a Chinese company to enhance transportation capacity across the country.

According to Radio Pakistan, the latest initiative, under the Special Investment Facilitation Council, is making significant strides towards reducing reliance on imports and promoting direct foreign investment.

After the successful delivery of two hundred wagons, Pakistan Railways has begun the production of an additional six hundred and twenty wagons locally. This project is set to create four hundred and fifty new jobs, with special attention being paid towards training young technicians in this specialized field.

The assembly of one hundred and fifteen Flat wagons in Lahore has been completed with the help of Chinese investment, and they are expected to be deployed in April. Furthermore, the manufacturing of one hundred and fifteen advanced wagons in Risalpur, deployed at Karachi Port, will further enhance the freight capacity of Pakistan's rail network.
