ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has pledged to collaborate with United Nations member states in upholding the principles of the UN Charter, with a focus on promoting peace and resolving ongoing global disputes, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar announced. The statement was made during a reception in Islamabad, celebrating Pakistan's term as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2025-2026.
According to Radio Pakistan, Deputy Prime Minister Dar emphasized Pakistan's commitment to a peaceful resolution of longstanding disputes, including those in Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine. He expressed concerns over the UN Security Council's credibility, particularly in light of the ongoing crisis in Gaza. Dar underscored that Pakistan's priorities are firmly rooted in the fundamental principles of the UN Charter.
Ishaq Dar stated that Pakistan's efforts at the UN Security Council will center on ensuring that decisions reflect the collective aspirations of member states. He highlighted Pakistan's intention to play a constructive role in bridging divides, fostering consensus, and upholding the Council's mandate.
