Pakistan Urges Global Attention on Arms Transfer to India’s Impact on Regional Stability

Islamabad: Pakistan has called on the international community to recognize the destabilizing consequences of arms transfers to India, which it views as a threat to regional stability and a catalyst for India's hegemonic ambitions. This appeal was made during a weekly news briefing held in Islamabad.

According to Radio Pakistan, Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan expressed serious concerns regarding India's involvement in orchestrating target killings within Pakistan and in other countries. He noted that Pakistan has raised this issue and is actively engaging with various countries to address these concerns.

Addressing a query about the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, Khan reiterated Pakistan's clear stance on the matter. He urged the international community to take notice of the severe actions being carried out by India against the Kashmiri people. Khan stressed the importance of a peaceful resolution to the dispute, aligning with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and the UN Security Council resolutions, to ensure stability in South Asia.

When questioned about the situation in Gaza, Khan criticized the proposal to displace its people, labeling it as troubling and unjust. He affirmed that the Palestinian land rightfully belongs to the Palestinian people and advocated for a two-state solution, adhering to UN Security Council resolutions, as the only just and viable option.

Regarding Pakistan's engagement with the new US administration, Khan stated that Pakistan continues to maintain communication with the US at multiple levels and expressed the desire to strengthen this significant bilateral relationship further.

In his opening remarks, Khan announced that Pakistan and Serbia are set to conduct the 5th round of bilateral political consultations in Islamabad. The discussions will cover a variety of topics, including political issues, trade, and people-to-people contacts.

Additionally, Khan mentioned that the third round of Pakistan-Uzbekistan bilateral political consultations is scheduled for February 4th to 5th in Tashkent. He also noted that the second round of Pakistan-Qatar bilateral consultations will be held in Doha on the 5th of the upcoming month, with Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar leading the Pakistani delegation and engaging with Qatari leadership.
