Pakistan, US Commit to Boosting Trade and Cultural Ties

Washington: Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi engaged in separate discussions with US Congressmen Joe Wilson and Rob Bresnahan in Washington, focusing on enhancing Pakistan-US relations. The meetings covered a range of topics, including the promotion of trade and cultural exchanges and the pursuit of lasting peace in the region, particularly concerning Afghanistan.

According to Radio Pakistan, the conversations emphasized the significance of strengthening the bilateral ties between the two nations. Minister Naqvi highlighted the United States as a key strategic partner for Pakistan, with a relationship spanning several decades. He praised US President Donald Trump's address, noting its positive implications for global peace and conflict resolution, and expressed optimism about the potential for new dimensions in Pakistan-US relations during Trump's presidency.

The meetings also included discussions on various avenues for cooperation and addressing the challenges faced by overseas Pakistanis. The Interior Minister reiterated Pakistan's commitment to fully cooperating at all levels to enhance Pakistan-US relations and extended invitations to Congressmen Wilson and Bresnahan to visit Pakistan. Pakistan's Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, was also in attendance during these discussions.
