Pakistan's role in the United Nations Peacekeeping Missions remained exemplary since the beginning. Pakistan became a member of the United Nations on September 30, 1947 and later became a part of the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in 1960. Pakistan Army has rendered matchless and exemplary services under the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission. Pakistan has rendered its services in numerous peacekeeping missions in twenty-three countries of the United Nations since it came into being. Currently, thousands of soldiers and officers of Pakistan Army and Police are participating in the United Nations peacekeeping mission. This is the reason that besides the United Nations key world leaders have always acknowledged the unparalleled services of the Pakistan Army in the UN Peacekeeping Missions. At the moment, around three thousand Pakistani peacekeepers are serving under the UN Peacekeeping Missions in Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, Central African Republic, Cyprus, Western Sahara and Somali a. According to a report, one hundred seventy-one Pakistani soldiers, including twenty-seven officers, sacrificed their lives during UN Peacekeeping Missions to restore peace in the world. Pakistan is the only country that has paid special attention to the representation and classification of women in ongoing peace-building operations to deal with difficult situations in the underdeveloped countries. Despite tough challenges, the soldiers and officers of Pakistan's Armed Forces are steadfast in the United Nations Peacekeeping Missions.
