Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formed a committee to examine and respond to the opposition's written charter of demands. This development was announced by the Prime Minister's Advisor on Political Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, during a joint news conference with PML-N leader Irfan Siddiqui.
According to Radio Pakistan, the opposition committee's draft demands the formation of two inquiry commissions to investigate the incidents that occurred on May 9th and November 26th. Sanaullah highlighted that the cases related to the May 9th incident are already at various stages of legal proceedings in different courts across the country.
Addressing the demand for an inquiry into the November 26th incident, Sanaullah accused the PTI of spreading propaganda against state institutions. He noted that the opposition has failed to provide substantial evidence to support their claims regarding casualties, injuries, and missing persons following the November 26th incident in the Federal Capital.
Sanaullah further stated that the PTI and its social media platforms are engaged in a coordinated campaign aimed at tarnishing the reputation of Pakistan and its institutions. Additionally, he commented on the impending verdict of the Al-Qadir trust case, describing it as a major corruption scandal. He accused the PTI founder and his wife, Bushra Bibi, of misusing authority and embezzling billions during his tenure.
PML-N leader Irfan Siddiqui mentioned that the government committee members will deliberate on these demands with their respective party leaders. He urged the opposition to refrain from imposing time constraints on the dialogue process, as addressing the demands may require additional time.
