Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed Pakistan Railways to formulate a strategy for trade promotion in the region, particularly with Central Asian countries. Chairing a meeting in Islamabad on Monday, he emphasized the need to utilize the land of Pakistan Railways for business activities in collaboration with the private sector.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of Pakistan Railways competitively attracting passengers through improved travel services facilitated by public-private partnerships. He also called for the replacement of the old railway system with contemporary technology to ensure efficiency and modernization.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister was briefed on the ongoing efforts for the revival and development of Pakistan Railways. It was highlighted that significant progress is being made on the Thar Coal Communication Project, which is part of the broader strategy to revamp the railway infrastructure and boost trade in the region.
