PM Reaffirms Commitment to Trans Afghan Railway Project and Regional Trade

Tashkent: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed Pakistan's commitment to the Trans Afghan railway project, emphasizing that this project will transform trade across the region. Addressing the Pakistan-Uzbekistan Business Forum in Tashkent, he stated that both countries will take steps together to achieve and realize this project.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister highlighted that Karachi and Gwadar ports will become hubs of economic activities and trade. He noted that the National Logistics Cell (NLC) is already transporting goods to Central Asian countries via Afghanistan. He mentioned that both nations have agreed in principle for NLC to collaborate with its Uzbek counterpart to form a joint company for transporting goods and services.

The Prime Minister discussed the potential for cooperation between the two countries in various areas. Uzbekistan has shown interest in Pakistan's mining and mineral sectors, with joint ventures expected to support the promotion of these industries. He also noted opportunities for collaboration in sectors such as Information Technology, agriculture, textile, and tourism.

The business forum is expected to significantly advance mutual goals and aspirations, turning shared dreams into a reality, as stated by the Prime Minister.

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, in his remarks, stated that Pakistan and Uzbekistan are not competitors but complement each other's economies. He highlighted numerous opportunities for partnership and cooperation across different sectors.

President Mirziyoyev assured full support and facilitation for Pakistani businessmen interested in investing in Uzbekistan. He emphasized that both countries can benefit from each other's experiences and expertise in sectors including mining, energy, pharmaceuticals, and textiles. He expressed confidence that the bilateral relationship will be elevated to a new level.
