PM vows to make Pakistan a great country despite prevailing economic challenges

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif says government would make Pakistan to emerge as a great country despite prevailing mammoth economic challenges.

Speaking at National Assembly, Prime Minister said the united opposition had accepted the challenge of assuming government just to save the state as country was at the verge of default with record inflation and unemployment.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has assured the National Assembly to provide maximum relief to the people affected by recent torrential rains in various parts of the country.

He said the federal government will increase the already announced relief package for the flood affected people. He said a meeting has been convened tomorrow to discuss the provision of relief to the affected people. He said the federal government, through the National Disaster Management Authority, will work with the provincial governments to help the farmers who suffered losses due to rains.

The Prime Minister also assured the lawmakers that their recommendations will be given due consideration in taking decisions at tomorrow’s meeting.

Commenting on the current situation in the country, the Prime Minister said every institution will have to exercise its powers within the ambit of the Constitution. He said the role of every institution, including the judiciary, the executive and the Parliament, has been well defined in the Constitution.  He said the Constitution will continue to guide and strengthen Pakistan no matter how much someone tries to meddle with it.

Shehbaz Sharif said what an irony it was that an incompetent government was imposed on Pakistan through the most rigged elections of country’s history in 2018. He said that the previous regime took over 20,000 billion rupees in three and half years, hundreds of thousands people became jobless and the economy brought to the verge of default.

The Prime Minister further said sugar prices were at 52 rupees per kilogram when PTI took over the government in 2018 and it became double in just four years. He said the previous government committed criminal negligence on not buying gas at cheaper rates and violated the agreement with the IMF. He said massive corruption scams, including BRT Peshawar, Helicopter case, Malamjabba emerged while NAB closed Moonis Elahi’s case during the last government but no one took any notice.

The Prime Minister said Imran Khan posted a fake letter on whatsapp, arguing that Russia has offered an oil facility to Pakistan but this claim was rejected by the Russian government.

He said now Russia has offered us to provide affordable and quality wheat through Government to Government mode. He said we have asked the Russian government to provide us wheat on deferred payments. He said Imran Khan’s wrong policies and approach harmed Pakistan’s relations with friendly countries including China, Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

Shehbaz Sharif also made it clear that the coalition parties took over the government to save the state instead of political point scoring. He said we managed to get the people rid of the Imran Khan led government in a constitutional manner. He said the coalition government is cognizant of the fact that the country is facing huge challenges on the economic front but we will continue to serve the nation at all costs.
