Caretaker Minister for Interior and Commerce Gohar Ejaz, says providing essential commodities to the people at low rates are among the government's top priorities. He made these remarks while chairing a meeting of the sugar advisory board in Islamabad today. The meeting reviewed the position of sugar stocks in the country. Gohar Ejaz mentioned that a record production of sugarcane is expected for the second consecutive year, with its production anticipated to reach 6.5 million tons. He also stated there are abundant reserves of sugar in the country. Gohar Ejaz categorically stated that action will be taken against tax evaders in the sugar industry, emphasizing that it is the government's duty to protect the interests of sugarcane growers.
