Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Climate Change, Romina Khurshid Alam said the cities must integrate climate adaptation strategies into urban planning to mitigate extreme weather risks. Addressing an event on World Habitat Day in Islamabad, she said also highlighted the critical role of youth in shaping environmentally sustainable cities, addressing rapid urbanization and climate change challenges. The Coordinator said by leveraging youth energy, creativity, and viewpoints, cities can strive for sustainable, equitable development and resilient smart cities. She stressed the need for innovative technologies, recycling, green materials, and climate-resilient architecture. Romina Khurshid Alam further emphasized to overcome difficulties in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly concerning poverty, inequality, and the imminent dangers posed by climate change.
