Three scientists have won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for their work on quantum dots.
The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences announced the award in Stockholm saying Moungi Bawendi of MIT, Louis Brus of Columbia University, and Alexei Ekimov of Nanocrystals Technology Inc., were honored for their work.
The dots or tiny particles, they worked on, have unique properties and are used in television screens, LED lamps and other electronic gadgets besides medical imaging.
