Under the auspices of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Services Improvement Project (KWSSIP), a successful tree plantation drive was held in Welfare Colony, UC-1, Gulshan Town, District East, Karachi, as part of the Independence Week Tree Plantation campaign. The initiative, executed in collaboration with the National Rural Support Programme (NRSP), saw the active participation of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) committees formed under the project. The KWSSIP and NRSP are jointly working in Karachi's Katchi Abadis to improve the water, sanitation, and hygiene situation under an initiative named "Strengthening of Katchi Abadis Cell and Engagement of Community-based Organizations (CBOs)." This initiative focuses on empowering communities to take an active role in managing their local environment and improving overall public health. During the campaign, more than 200 saplings were planted in the area. This initiative was not only a celebration of Pakistan's Independence but also a pledge by the communit y to maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of their locality while promoting a greener and healthier environment.
