The hydro power projects contribute to the strategic goals of mitigating climate change and generating green energy besides socio-economic development of the people. This was told by Chairman WAPDA Sajjad Ghani during a meeting with the a delegation of Asian Development Bank Alternate Executive Directors in Lahore today. Terming ADB a valuable partner, the Chairman, said that WAPDA has immensely benefitted from the Bank's support. The Chairman suggested that ADB may upscale its engagements with WAPDA from medium to large and then to strategic projects. The delegation was told that Wapda plans to improve the ratio of low-cost hydel electricity in the National Grid from existing 29 percent to 40 percent by 2030 and 50 percent by 2050.
